USCGLoran-C TerminationOn Feb. 9th 2010 the Loran-C signal was terminated. As a result of technological advancements over the last twenty years, Loran-C has become an antiquated system that is no longer required by the armed forces, the transportation sector or the nation’s security interests; it was being used by only a small percentage of the population. Continued dedication of limited Federal resources to operate Loran-C is no longer sound stewardship of taxpayer funds.

LONG-AWAITED
BIG CHANGES IN MARINE SAFETY AND MARINE ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION ARE FINALLY HERE! The BIG news is that we finally have been given the green-light to proceed with expansion of our repertoire of available specialties with the addition of 12 brand-new Marine Safety PQSs never before available to Auxiliarists. At the same time, our previously existing PQSs have been sub-stantially revised and must be used starting 28 APRIL 2010. For starters, we now have 24 specialties on our menu of training and qualification possibilities. Half are brand-new; half are newly revised and updated versions of already-existing PQS specialties. For more detailed information click on the http://www.auxmdept.org/TridentMain.htm or contact Steve Macrecky, SO-MS, FC-18 steve@ciwa.us Also MSD Belfast could use our assistant. Before that can happen, we need to get qualified with a PQS and update our security clearance to a "DO". PQS training will be conducted at the MSD Belfast on an one to one basis. MSD Belfast asks that the Auxiliary member be willing to give a minimum of 4-8 hours per week. If you have any question on the PQS or what MSD Belfast requires, please contact Steve.
